Ethereal brings together the hackers, builders, influencers, experts, novices, and artists, who are looking to shape the future of Blockchain technology. Unlike traditional Hackathons, Ethereal Blocks will take place from the comfort of your own homes! No need to binge on fizzy soda and pizza, sitting on uncomfortable plastic chairs for 48 hours (as per the usual Hackathon).
Other than the location; the format for the Hackathon is very much the same. The various sponsors (Status included) have set challenges / bounties for you participants to work away on, for the chance to win amazing prizes!
Here at Status, we have decided to post three challenges / bounties for you to take part in. By doing so, you have the chance of winning up to 5000 DAI !! One of our bounties is worth 2000 DAI, and two of the challenges are worth 1500 DAI each.

Bounty #1 - Status DApp
Title: Build a Status Optimized Web DApp with our Javascript API using Embark
Description: Status is building the tools for private, secure communication. The Status mobile client includes:
- p2p messenger with the whisper protocol
- Decentralized crypto wallet
- Web3 browser
This challenge invites hackers to create with the native features of Status in mind. Build a fully decentralized, Status-optimized DApp using our JavaScript API.
To be optimized for Status, your DApp must be responsive and work well on mobile. It should work with EIP1102 (e.g. browser privacy mode enabled), and reflect Status as the host if appropriate.
The web API allows access to a users contact ID for Status chat, and a QR code scanner.
Requirements:

Title: Proof of concept for integration of Keycard within mobile or desktop apps
About Keycard: Keycard is an open framework for smartcards in the crypto sphere. Smartcards are cost-effective, highly secure hardware, that can generate & store private keys, sign transactions with a tap on a mobile (android sdk available), or with a desktop (with a usb reader).
Keycard can be used as an easy-to-use and mobile friendly hardware wallet, bringing security and ownership over their keys to end users. Its form factor, tangibility and cost effectiveness can also be leveraged as an adoption tool, to bring new comers to decentralized services.
- Keycard has an Android SDK & Go SDK.
- Keycard is integrated with geth.
Challenge description: We’d love to see a proof of concept of integration of Keycard within mobile or desktop apps (e.g. wallets, web3 browsers) for security, dapps interaction, or payment purposes.
